Music55-7 makes music happen...
...music that inspires people to be creative and positive. We have a strong tradition in programming high quality music events stretching back to 1987 and although we are proud of that 21-year heritage, we feel we are just coming of age.
Our values centre around being open, engaging, informative, inspirational and entertaining. Our roots are in classical music but we also engage with music from many other traditions. We welcome everyone who enjoys live music, learning and sharing musical experiences.
So what can you expect from us? In practical terms we hope that you come away from one of our events with a smile on your face and feeling the urge to be more creative.
Our agenda for change
We want to:
- Loosen the classical music concert format so as to reconnect performers, composers and audiences.
- Explore the connections between classical music, other music, other art forms and digital technologies.
- Stimulate greater music engagement among young people.
- Help service and grow the community of music lovers and musicians in the City of Derry and the North West of Ireland.
- Work with other agencies to promote the Derry as a city of culture and as a place not only to live but to enjoy living.
You can help by doing what you enjoy and what you can. If you come to concerts, participate in a workshop, perform for us, compose for us, volunteer or donate, we appreciate your support.
