The City of Derry Guitar Festival brings together some of the world's finest guitarists and composers for a series of inspirational performances, masterclasses and workshops. Set in the beautiful grounds of the University of Ulster's Magee Campus in the historic walled city of Derry, Northern Ireland, the festival welcomes guitarists and composers of all levels. Non-playing music lovers have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy public concerts performed by guest artists featuring music from the 1600s to the present day.
The 7th City of Derry Guitar Festival happened 21-24 August 2008 and celebrated the life and music of guitarist Julian Bream. A packed programme included performances by Nigel North, Mark Chambers, Carlos Bonell, Graham Devine, Ricky Graham and Mark McKnight and the world premiere of Sternlos for solo guitar by Ian Wilson.
