Apple Hill Playing for Peace

This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the The Apple Hill Playing for Peace project in Ireland. The Apple Hill String Quartet from the USA have been sharing their amazing talent and experience with musicians from all ages and backgrounds in the North West during this time. The Playing for Peace Project has brought the group all over the world, from the Middle East to Armenia and Georgia, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey and, more recently, South East Asia.

Their annual workshop will once again be held this year 18-20 of December in the picturesque Gartan Centre, Co. Donegal where musicians can relax in the lakeside surroundings and participate in outdoor activities. The weekend workshop gives musicians an opportunity to work on a piece of chamber music intensely with guidance from Apple Hill's Director, Leonard Matczynski and the Apple Hill String Quartet and also to get to know other musicians from across Ireland, the UK and further afield. .

The weekend includes two public performances:

  • Saturday 19th December 2009
  • Conwal Church, Letterkenny at 7pm
  • Apple Hill String Quartet

( Admission free with retiring collection for the Apple Hill Playing for Peace Project )

  • Sunday 20th December 2009
  • The Lakehouse, Gartan at 4.30pm
  • A sharing concert by the workshop participants

( Admission free )
